New cycle lane for Lakepoint

We are happy to inform you that after a couple of years looking for the county council to reinstate the cycle path from Lakepoint Park to st. Colmans school it looks like we finally got there.

The westmeath county council have set aside 90,000 euro to upgrade the footpaths and cycle way from Lakepoint Park to St. Colmans school but going one step further and improving footpaths and putting a cycle lane the whole way to the canal greenway and Mullingar town itself.

This is fantastic news and we would like to acknowledge Aoife Davitt’s contribution of keeping Lakepoint Parks name on the table of talks in the Council and Municipal district.

This upgrade and or reinstating of the cycle lane will improve safety for children going to school.

Sometimes as an association you can feel like your biting off more than you can chew and that you are not being heard. Then on days like these you get news that your constant questions and requests have been heard, processed, recognised and acted upon.

This upgrade follows the recent repainting of the roundabouts in Lakepoint in the past year by the County Council.

Things don’t move fast in the council but as an association we are always keeping lakepoint Parks hat in the ring for improvements wherever possible.

Regards,

LRA.
