Over the past week or so the Westmeath county council undertook to correct a trip hazard on the footpath. The footpath had been pushed up by roots of the adjoining tree causing a lip to trip on. (I personally have given first aid along with another neighbour when an elderly gentleman tripped on this footpath and hit is face off the ground).

The council had to cut the tree down. Allegedly the tree roots had broke the sewer pipe and entered the sewer. All has been repaired. Tree stump removed, kerb repaired and new footpath.
Very thorough work done Wetmeath Co. Co.

The council are responsible for footpaths, public lighting, drainage and roads in our estate.
The council are NOT responsible for grass cutting and general upkeep in the estate. YOU are. We ALL are, together. Good work Lakepoint.
It’s a pity the council don’t rectify the street lighting so quickly, we have tried to have the street light which is no longer working replaced since July and have been told it will be into the new year as they have no budget to replace a bulb ?
See below response from council
“Lamp in question is on a dangerous bend in the park Lamp is number 26431 on the deadsure app that the council use for reporting.”
The light in question was reported on 8th July 2020. Lantern replacements are undertaken in priority order and within budget requirements. I don’t have a replacement date at this time. However, based on the current lanterns awaiting replacement, it is likely that it would be early in the new year before this replacement is installed.
