The Association contacted the council recently to ask if there was any chance of getting some “Children at Play” signs or some type of assistance to help with speeding in the estate.
We were hoping for a different response.
We went through Cllr. Aoife Davitt to forward a motion at the Mullingar municipal Council meeting to explore the possibilities of speed ramps in Lakepoint to try and curb speeding with so many children out playing.
It’s surprising that in the largest housing estate outside of Dublin there are no speed control measures in place.
The council’s response in the meeting to Cllr. Aoife Davitt’s motion was that there is no money for ramps.
No other Councillor at the meeting seconded the motion to help us protect our children.
We will continue to represent for improvements in road safety.
